Charmant tapis de selle turkmène ancien, tissé en laine sur fond rouge profond, présentant une composition traditionnelle ornée de guls stylisés et de motifs géométriques caractéristiques de l’art textile des peuples nomades d’Asie centrale.

La bordure principale encadre harmonieusement le champ central décoré de médaillons répétitifs aux teintes rouge, ivoire, brun et bleu nuit. Les extrémités sont agrémentées de petits motifs protecteurs typiques des productions turkmènes destinées à l’équipement du cheval et aux usages quotidiens des tribus nomades.

Cette pièce témoigne d’un savoir-faire artisanal authentique, avec une belle patine et une usure cohérente avec son âge qui lui confèrent beaucoup de caractère. Son format allongé permet également une utilisation décorative comme tapis de couloir, devant de coffre ou tenture murale.

Antique Turkmen Yomud saddle cloth - 70 x 130 cm

Charming antique Turkmen saddle rug, woven in wool on a deep red ground, featuring a traditional composition decorated with stylized guls and geometric motifs characteristic of the textile art of the nomadic peoples of Central Asia.

The main border harmoniously frames the central field decorated with repeating medallions in shades of red, ivory, brown and midnight blue. The extremities are embellished with small protective motifs typical of Turkmen productions intended for horse equipment and the daily uses of nomadic tribes.

This piece bears witness to authentic craftsmanship, with a beautiful patina and wear consistent with its age giving it plenty of character. Its elongated format also lends itself to decorative use as a hallway rug, trunk front or wall hanging.
