Superbe tapis Hatchlou ancien, datant des environs de 1920/30, présentant un décor géométrique traditionnel particulièrement riche et graphique.

Le tapis est orné d’une belle composition de motifs géométriques, losanges et éléments stylisés, dans une palette chaleureuse dominée par les rouges, bruns, écrus et bleu foncé. L’ensemble témoigne du caractère décoratif et du savoir-faire des tapis nomades anciens.

Le tapis Hatchlou (ou Hatchlu, Hatschlu) est un tapis d'Orient traditionnel unique appartenant à la famille des tapis Enssi (ou Engsi). Historiquement tissé par les tribus nomades turkmènes d'Asie centrale, il servait initialement de tenture de porte pour l'entrée des yourtes. Ses caractéristiques principales se distinguent par un graphisme hautement symbolique et une robustesse artisanale : Le Motif Central en Croix et Quadrants La caractéristique la plus célèbre et incontournable du Hatchlou est son champ central divisé en quatre quadrants symétriques séparés par une large bande verticale et horizontale formant une croix. Chaque quadrant est rempli de motifs répétitifs spécifiques :

• Les motifs en "Y" ou "chandeliers" : Des rangées de petits motifs géométriques stylisés remplissent généralement les quatre panneaux.
• Symbolique riche : Selon les interprétations, la croix et les quadrants symbolisent la structure de la yourte (sécurité du foyer) ou représentent les quatre jardins intérieurs du paradis islamique.

2. Les Couleurs Traditionnelles Les pièces authentiques se reconnaissent à leur palette sobre mais profonde, dominée par les nuances de rouge (rouge brique, bordeaux, rouille, lie-de-vin), complétée par des touches de marron, de bleu marine, de noir ou de beige. Les pigments utilisés historiquement proviennent de teintures végétales et naturelles.

Matériaux et Texture

• 100 % Laine (le plus classique) : Traditionnellement, le velours, la chaîne et la trame sont confectionnés exclusivement en pure laine de mouton filée à la main. Le velours est tondu de manière modérée (ni trop court, ni trop long)

• État : Bon état général des motifs et des couleurs (belle patine). Les franges présentent une usure normale liée au temps Une petite restauration a l'arrière de la frange

The Hatchlou rug (or Hatchlu, Hatschlu) is a unique traditional Oriental rug belonging to the Enssi (or Engsi) rug family. Historically woven by the nomadic Turkmen tribes of Central Asia, it was originally used as a door hanging for the entrance to yurts. Its main characteristics are distinguished by highly symbolic designs and robust craftsmanship: The Central Cross and Quadrant Pattern The most famous and distinctive feature of the Hatchlou is its central field, divided into four symmetrical quadrants separated by a wide vertical and horizontal band forming a cross. Each quadrant is filled with specific repetitive patterns:

• The “Y” or “candlestick” patterns: Rows of small, stylized geometric motifs typically fill the four panels.
• Rich Symbolism: Depending on the interpretation, the cross and the quadrants symbolize the structure of the yurt (the safety of the hearth) or represent the four inner gardens of the Islamic paradise.

2. Traditional Colors Authentic pieces are recognizable by their understated yet deep color palette, dominated by shades of red (brick red, burgundy, rust, wine red), complemented by touches of brown, navy blue, black, or beige. The pigments used historically come from plant-based and natural dyes.

Materials and Texture

100% Wool (the most classic): Traditionally, the pile, warp, and weft are made exclusively from pure, hand-spun sheep’s wool. The pile is moderately cut (neither too short nor too long)

• Condition: Good overall condition of the patterns and colors (beautiful patina). The fringes show normal wear and tear due to age. Minor restoration work has been done on the back of the fringe
